Why PPF
LA freeways are hard on paint
Every mile on the 5, the 405, or the 118 sandblasts the front of your car. Gravel from truck tires, sand blown across lanes, the debris field behind every construction convoy. It all lands on your bumper and hood first. Six months of Los Angeles commuting can pepper a new front end with chips that no amount of polishing will fix, because the paint itself is gone.
Paint protection film ends that cycle. The urethane layer is thick enough to absorb impacts that would chip bare clear coat, and Autobahn’s Incognito line adds a self-healing top coat: fine swirls and wash marks in the film close up with a little heat from the sun. Repainting a bumper costs real money and never quite matches factory paint. Film is the version of that repair you buy once, before the damage happens.

Patterns are computer cut for your exact panels, with no blades near your paint, and edges are wrapped wherever the panel allows so the film disappears.

What customers ask us about film
PPF is a thick, optically clear urethane film applied over your painted panels. It absorbs the impacts that would otherwise chip or scratch the paint: gravel kicked up on the 5, shopping carts, careless doors, road debris. The film takes the hit; the paint underneath stays factory-perfect.
The top coat of Autobahn Incognito film is engineered so light swirl marks and fine scratches disappear with heat. Park in the sun or rinse the panel with warm water and minor marks in the film literally close back up. Deeper gouges that penetrate the film won't heal, but the paint under them is still protected.
Installed well, no. That's the point. The film is optically clear and we wrap edges wherever the panel allows, so there are no visible lines at eye level. On matte or satin paint we install the matching matte finish film so the texture stays consistent.
Autobahn films are built for roughly ten years of service and are warrantied by the manufacturer against yellowing, cracking, peeling, and blistering. Most of our customers keep film on for the life of their ownership and it still looks new at trade-in, which is exactly when it pays for itself.
They solve different problems. PPF is physical armor: it stops rock chips and scratches. Ceramic coating is chemical protection: gloss, hydrophobics, and easier washing, but it will not stop a rock. The best answer for many vehicles is both. PPF on the impact zones, ceramic over everything for gloss and maintenance. We're happy to quote the combination.
Yes. Quality film removes cleanly from factory paint without pulling clear coat, which is one of the reasons we only install films we trust. Removal is best done by a professional with heat and patience, and when it comes off, the paint underneath is typically the best preserved on the car.
